Hunter Leveling Guide

Class – Hunter
Role – Damage
Armor – Medium (Leather / Mail)
Emphasis on ranged damage and traps
Gains a beast of your choice as a lifelong companion
Good at leveling and soloing

Hunters are at home in the wildneress and have a special affinity for beasts. They use ranged weapons, such as bows or guns, and their pet to deal damage. They can use traps to cause damage or keep an enemy at bay.

Primary Stats – Attack Power / Agility

Talents / Spec
Talent points become available starting at level 10. While leveling, you will only receive new powers to train in at even level numbers (i.e., 2, 4, 6, etc.), you will receive talent points at every level gain starting at 10. Don’t forget to allocate those points to augment your abilities. These are very important to the growth and development of your character. These talents may help your character with survivability, healing output, or damage output. Read the talents carefully when decided where to spend your points. That being said, let’s take a look at the Hunter talent tree.

Beast Mastery – Any talent line that turns a pet into a full fledged party member is a good thing. Increased stamina and attack power evolves your pet into your tank while you continue to work on your ranged damage.

Marksmanship – As if the Hunter ranged damage wasn't already powerful enough, this talent line increases damage output and adds damage over time.

Survival – Generally accepted as a strong pvp build, this talent tree involves increasing your traps and increased stamina for you and your pet.

The Hunter class is an easy solo class from 1-80. With a constant pet in play, the Hunter class is never truly alone. With abilities ranging from fast dps attacks to slow damage and constant taunting, a pet can keep most mobs busy while the Hunter pours on the damage.

I have personally been involved in lvl 80 instance runs where the Hunter and his pet are out damaging the best geared Rogue class. But don't forget about using Feign Death when the time comes that you out dps your pets taunt.

Remember, you can respec your character at any time if you decided that you don’t like where you have started to place your talent points. It’s important to note that while you can respec at any time, the cost increases each time you do with the first respec starting at 1 gold. Also, there are times when Blizzard makes significant changes to talent trees for one or all classes during a patch download. When warranted by Blizzard, all of your talent points could be refunded and you will need to take the time to re-allocate those points.

We'll be back with more additions to the Hunter Leveling Guide soon.
